Dr. Ron Baldassare has devoted his career to the study and treatment of the cornea starting with some of the pioneering LASIK research in 1994.

Dr. Baldassare is the only cornea specialist in the Okanagan, and the only surgeon with a fellowship in Refractive Surgery in the Okanagan. He has practiced laser refractive surgery since 1994, and has been in Kelowna since 1995. He was awarded the J. W. McConnell Scholarship for his medical studies at McGill University, where he also obtained his specialty training in ophthalmology. He then specifically trained in cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery at Emory University in Atlanta, where some of the first FDA studies of Lasik surgery were conducted. He is involved in clinical research, is a reviewer for the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology, and has presented his research at the American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting.
